Charlene Moy

Watercolor Painter

In her return to painting, Charlene is embracing what she previously disregarded. This has led her to watercolor as a new medium, nature and earth tones for inspiration. What she once viewed as common, she now sees as extraordinary. She finds beauty in the somber and nuances of nature. She likes working with watercolor because it reinforces the importance of being in the moment. The process can be uncontrollable, unpredictable and full of unexpected results.
Charlene creates images of nature that are larger than life size, some abstracted but recognizable. Others are extremely blown up, decontextualized, objects and the spaces between them obscured. Insignificant to the naked eye, a speck transforms into a vast landscape, a dark cavern or vaporous pu
ffs of color. In examining small things in a larger way, new worlds begin to emerge.
